SEO Trends 2013
The World Wide Web has just turned 20 yet within that short time span it has gone on to become our most important source of information. Search engine Optimization ensures that our webpages get more traffic albeit unlike the WWW; SEO is very dynamic and bound to change periodically. Within each month Google updates its search algorithms at least more than 10 times to accommodate new approaches to SEO.
Very often these changes have very trivial and barely noticeable effects on page rankings on webpages. Nowadays the ‘traditional’ SEO is dying off as search engines algorithms become more sophisticated. The SEO of the old that was easily achievable through keyword stuffing, poor backlinks and redundancy is no longer effective.
In 2013 three important trends in SEO will diversely affect the ranking of web pages. Social Media will affect the ranking of webpages far much more than they do nowadays, especially in Bing. Webmasters will have to ensure they maintain a notable social media presence. Furthermore; webpages will have to be mobile friendly as traffic from mobile devices continues to increase drastically. An uncertain update to Google called the Equivalency score algorithm is expected to rank pages differently each time a search is conducted, to kill the first position monopoly in most instances.
The most important factor to consider with regards to Search Engine Optimization in 2013 will be the quality of content and backlinks to their sites. Since search engines can’t read to ascertain the quality, they will depend on the uniqueness (0% plagiarism), length of the content and how much the content is being shared on social media.
